Mr.President Vladimir Putin said they are sure he will run again but some NW say he may want to keep his options.
In the Russian had been encouraged to back Putin’s power move described by critics as a constitutional coup with prize draws offering flats and advertisement campaign highlighting other Constitutional Amendments in the same reform bundle such as pensions protection and one off payments of 10,000 roubles were transferred to those with children at Mr. Putin’s order as people headed to polling stations on July1, the last day of the vote, held over seven days to try to limit the spread of the virus.
Vice President Alexander Rutskoy Preceded by Office established himself as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian SFSR. and Succeeded by Vladimir Putin Russian President now.
In Russians have granted to Mr.President Vladimir Putin the right to stay in power until 2036 by voting overwhelmingly for Constitutional changes that reset the clock on the longtime Russian leader’s tenure to zero and ruled Russia for more than twenty years as President. Mr.President Vladimir Putin had won the right to run for two more six year terms after the current one ends in 2024.
And other side opposition politician Mr. Alexei Navalny had a different view about that and called the vote an illegitimate but Mr. A. Navalny told supporters in and said the opposition would not protest for now because of the corona virus pandemic but would do so in big numbers in the Autumn if its candidates were blocked from taking part in regional elections or their results were falsified.
Mr. Alexei Navalny said will not leave until we start to take to the streets in the hundreds of thousands and in the millions.
Some Russian voters back a move by Putin to rule until 2036
The central Commission said 77.9 percent of votes counted across The World’s largest country by area had supported changing the rules of constitution about 21 percent had voted against and NR ( E. Pamfilova ) the commission said the vote had been transparent and that officials had done everything to ensure its authenticity. The consequential change to allow Mr.President Vladimir Putin to run for two more six year terms after the end of his second President term in 2024 but resets the terms for Mr.Putin but would not apply to future Presidents.
The constitution was previously changed to increase Presidential term limits from four years to six years Mr. Putin was served as Prime Minister between 2008 and 2012 while his ally Mr. Dmitri Medvedev was President. And the other changes to the constitution include measures to respect the country’s heritage and the orthodox church as well as strengthen the Kremlin over local and municipal authorities.
In the Russia’s parliament already approved the changes to the constitution in the month March but passed a law that said they needed popular support. But as a historian said that it’s just a symbolic referendum and since the Russian electoral system is known for widespread falsifications the result.
Mr.President Vladimir Putin is already the longest serving leader in the modern Russian history since Soviet J. Stalin but opposition figures denounced the vote.
As a experts say there were around two hundred amendments proposed to the constitution in one package even Mr. Putin has traditionally been opposed to changes but Mr. Nikolay Petrov said the scale of the reform was absolutely surprising and senior research fellow , many of the reforms involve transforming the political system in a way which will make Mr. Putin’s position comfortable and not to opposed. The vote was originally planned for April but was delayed due to the corona virus outbreak. In April, the country has recorded 6,60,430 COVID-19 infections so far, the third worst hit after the U.S.A. and the virus has spread fast in the Russia.
As a report the importance of the referendum is that it provide a veneer of legitimacy for a constitutional change that would reset Mr. Putin’s Presidential terms and allowing him to continue again in 2024.
** The final result of the referendum on Constitutional changes show a maximum victory for Russian Mr.President Vladimir Putin.
